Sorry for the delay in our usual weekly posting. Last
weekend we took a short break from language learning in a place where internet
was not easily accessible. We went south
to Bangalore for five days of meetings and training with many great folks from
our home office as well as several other families who are serving in various
parts of India. It was a very refreshing
time away for many reasons but one reason stuck out for all of us…the
weather! The temperatures in Bangalore
hover around eighty degrees the entire year. The second we stepped out of the
airport it was like we had arrived at a tropical oasis. Not once during the five days did any of us
break a sweat! WooHoo! Of course, by the time we exited the Delhi airport and
arrived back in our home, we were once again drenched in sweat. Welcome home! Haha!
Phase 2 of language learning is going well. In this phase we are working through wordless
picture books with our language nurturer. She helps us describe every detail on
each page using full sentences. Then she
tells the entire story and we try to understand what she is saying. The kids are also continuing to work with a
language nurturer. Gudiya, our language
nurturer for phase one, comes to our house four days a week for an hour each
day to work with the kids on simple wordless picture books. You can see them working together in a few of
the photos below. The rest of the photos are from our trip to Bangalore.
We thank God for you and count ourselves incredibly blessed
to have you in our lives and to be able to share this journey with you. Truly, you are a gift to us from God and we
could not do this without you!
