Last week, our village had a visitor in the night...a giant male elephant with huge tusks. Good friends of ours had an up close and personal encounter with him, but in spite of that, no one in our area was harmed. The elephant walked into our village from the tea gardens, walking through several boundary walls and breaking through several iron gates.
He also broke through the boundary wall at our friend's house. When my friend heard the noise she got out of bed to look out the window...it was at that moment that she came face-to-face with this enormous creature. Fortunately, for her and her family, the elephant did not attempt to enter their home, but rather walked away as they stood praying for their protection.
Elephants often wander into villages at night looking for food. They are herbivores so they are not looking to feast on people. But their sheer size and strength pose extreme danger for anyone they come across. They can easily walk through brick walls, even those reinforced with rebar. So, they cause a lot of destruction and havoc when they wander out of their jungle environments...especially when they enter villages with homes made of metal sheeting or wood. We are praising God that no one was harmed last week, when this massive and majestic creature took an evening stroll through our village.
